JAMES PARRY

James Parry is a solicitor advocate and one of the founding partners of Parry Welch Lacey. James specialises in all aspects of criminal and motoring law as well as animal welfare and dangerous dog legislation. James led the challenge against Merseyside Police’s decision to to seize and summarily destroy 27 dogs in Merseyside which resulted in the High Court declaring that the dogs had been unlawfully destroyed. Subsequently he successfully secured the acquittal of 14 defendants who were charged with unlawfully possessing prohibited dogs as part of that operation.

In 2013 James led solicitors to pass a vote of no confidence in then the Chief Executive and President of the Law Society of England and Wales on the grounds that they had proposed a scheme to the Ministry of Justice that would have seen two thirds of legal aid practices driven out of business. The Ministry of Justice has now abandoned that scheme.

James began his legal career in 1984 as a legal advisor in the magistrates’ courts in the North East of England and later Liverpool. James moved into private practice in 1996 and worked in several high profile firms before founding Parry Welch Lacey in 2009 with Kate Welch.
